The Race Season Begins

We are now and truly in to our race season and although I’ve not got the results I have been training for I have learnt a lot and I have a lot of confidence coming in to the next up and coming races. So far we have been to Scotland for our first UK national series and out to France and Australia for the first two rounds of the World Cup series.

Scotland was a good weekend for me, the weather was typically Scottish with the rain coming down hard all weekend so my Sealskinz socks where first in my kit bag! I felt great on my bike and more than anything I was having fun and enjoying the riding. I managed to get on the podium in 3rd place, not the exact result I was going for but it gave me confidence that I was on the pace and even with a mistake during my race run I could finish the weekend with a podium position.

France and Australia both didn't quite go to plan for me, with crashes in both races and results way off of where I know I can be. Despite the bad results I can walk away from both the races with some big lessons learnt and carry this on to the next races. A big battle of racing is learning how far you can push yourself, we have a limited amount of practice and 1 race run to prove everything, that one race run counts for everything and 1 small mistake costs a lot. With a positive to take away from each race I can confidently focus on the next round.

With the racing out the way in Australia and such a long trip ahead of us back home we did have a couple of days to explore the area and enjoy what Australia has to offer. Travelling is one of the many things I enjoy about racing, we get to travel to some amazing places and see some incredible sights and views so I always like to see of much of the area was possible.

Our next race is 15th May in Fort William, Scotland for the next round of our UK national race series and I’m already looking forward to getting up there and getting back to racing again.
